The orgasm is not the most important part of sex; on the contrary it is part of a human sexual cycle that can be distinguished in 4 phases:
- Excitation phase: The excitation is the first stage can be caused by physical or mental stimulation, such as kissing, petting, vision of a naked body, a caress, tact, etc. In males, the beginning of the excitement phase is observed when the penis becomes partially erect, after only a few seconds of erotic stimulation. In females, venous patterns across the breasts become more visible and the breasts very slightly increase in size. The lips become flatter, thinner, and raise upwards and outwards in nulliparous women.
- Plateau phase: It comes after the phase of the excitation, and consists of the increase of the circulation and the heart rate, and happens in both sexes, sexual pleasure increases with increased stimulation, muscle tension increases further.
- Orgasmic phase: Orgasm appears after passing the phases of excitation and plateau, behind orgasm the resolution or ejaculation of semen in both cases takes place. During orgasm the pulsations and the breathing arrive at the maximum frequency and intensity, takes place a great muscular tension and contractions in the anus-genital zone.
- Resolution phase: As much the male as the female can have more than one orgasm. In the fourth phase, the excitation decays and everything relaxes. The pulsations and the breathing decelerate and return the blood of the genitals to the sanguineous torrent. The anxieties to sleep or to rest for a moment appear.
